Thorny Issue

Dr M's Campaign To Topple The Prime Minister

Mahathir And Sharir Get Prickly
Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad hits out at Tun Musa Hitam and Datuk Sharir Abdul Samad. Says they were thorns in UMNO's side, too....

Sharir fires back, saying, unlike Dr Mahathir, he never left the party but was refused entry into UMNO Baru.....
"Anyway, Tun has lost his right to criticise the party because he is no longer a member" he said.

MALAY UNITY WILL NOT BE AFFECTED BY DIFFERENCE OF OPINION, SAYS ZAID
"The Malay mind is not fragile nor is their thinking so narrow. They know right from wrong. Those who say that the Malays are in disarray are those unhappy with the present leadership's openness.
These people want to scare the Malays because they are afraid of the changes taking place. They are so used to the old culture that they are uncomfortable with the government's openness although it benefits the people.
The people must ask themselves what has brought about this disagreement. Unfortunately, no one is talking about reformation or change in Barisan Nasional. All they want is for Pak Lah to step down and transfer power. These are the demands of power crazy people who are afraid of change......"
minister in the PM's Department Datuk Zain Ibrahim

LINGAM VIDOE CLIP: COMMISION’S REPORT

NO WITCH-HUNT
The finding of the Lingam video clip inquiry do not form basis for
Prosecution until a thorough investigation is concluded, say lawyer

“Don’t make an issue, or use it as an avenue to make accusations and presumptions, for sake or creating a public media prosecution. This would not right”
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi

“This kind of misbehaviour is so unprecendented that it not for release of video clip, it may never have come to light”
Commission of Inquiry report

“The commission report can be used by aggrieved parties as a springboard for an application to the Federal Court to review its own decision”
Former Court to Appeal judge Datuk Karam Chand Vohrah

“I don’t believe I did anything wrong but if they feel that I am guilty, I will accept any punishment”
Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad

THE REPORT REVEALS

The game plan was for Lingam, Tun Mohd Eusoff Chin, Tan Sri Vincent Tan, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku m\Mansor and their contacts to make sure that their friends were in judiciary for the sake of then Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Lingam’s claim that he had said many things about Tengku Adnan because he was drunk was too facile to be accepted.

Tan would have taken a very keen interest in the indentity of the judges who were trying his cases, one of which saw a defamation award being the highest in the Commonwealth.

The collective and cumulative actions of the main characters concerned seriously undermined and eroded the independence and integrity of judiciary.
